MTV First Time Directors
A self-service training program that prepared indie filmmakers to direct their first TV production for MTV Entertainment Studios.

THE BRIEF
MTV Entertainment Studios needed to onboard a new generation of indie filmmakers into major studio TV productions. The directors came from a wide range of backgrounds: some had worked professionally, others had been making films with friends. None had directed TV before.
The program needed to act as a rapid film school: covering deal-making, pre-production, set etiquette, equipment, post-production, and industry representation. It had to work asynchronously, at scale, without a classroom.
I was Project Lead and Creative Director. I architected and built a self-service interactive guidebook on the ViacomCBS platform, coordinating instructional designers, subject matter experts, graphic designers, and copywriters across a 13-week production sprint. Research through launch.
DELIVERABLE
3 hours of coursework: written content, graphics, quotes from working professionals, video from the ViacomCBS library, interactive learning activities, and assessments.
